I have a question:
The custom of women wearing veils?

Except for the bride wearing a veil during the wedding ceremony, there is no Jewish tradition of women wearing veils (as there is in much of the Arab world).

If you were referring to the wedding veil, I imagine that's based on the biblical account of Yaakov (Jacob) marrying Leah and Rivkah (Rebekah). Certainly the tradition of raising the veil at a particular point in the Jewish ceremony stems from Jacob's error.
