I have a question:
What is the meaning of the custom of laying stones on the headstone at the cemetary? Most people see it as a sign of respect to the deceased, but I have also read that it is a sign of shame, i.e., that a "stone on the coffin" is an indication of a bad life.

I have a question:
I'd like some information with regards to the "unveiling" of a headstone. My mother (may she rest in peace) died 6 months ago and we are getting ready to order her headstone. Is it a "must" for family from out of state to be there for the unveiling? Do we need a rabbi? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
