I have a question:
A question of Kashrut: There is a McCormick product available called Bac'n. It is made of soy and vegetable products. It is marked with an O U but the label says 'bacon flavored'. Is this something appropriate to eat for someone who keeps biblically kosher? (No pork or other trafe products, no dairy and meat together)

About me:
My e-mail address:   LAMORROW@Compuserve.com
How I found this site:

As far as I know, the McCormick product is reliably certified as kosher by the OU.  Jews are permitted to eat it.

('Bacon Flavored' is a marketing claim concerning its taste. Just as 'grape flavored' on a soda indicates that there is no real grape in it, so here 'bacon flavored' means there is no real bacon in it.)

In general, an excellent source for kashrut information is:
http://www.kashrut.com

The OU and Kof-K inspection services also have web sites and will answer kashrut questions by e-mail.
The OU maintains a web site at: http://www.ou.org/kosher
The Kof-K maintains a web site at: http://www.kof-k.com/

I hope this information is useful.
